Breda Lawless

Board Member

Having worked within the Health Services at a Clinical and Managerial Nursing Level for 20 years, in 1998 I commenced in a newly created role of Care Group Directors as the Director for Mental Health for the then, Eastern Health Board (EHB). This comprised Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow which was 40% of Ireland’s population. This involved liaising directly with the Department of Health around the planning for and the future funding of and adequate Mental Health Service to meet identified need. In 2006 with the establishment of a new entity for health delivery, the Health Service Executive (HSE), my role changed to one of having a National remit with a specific brief as a Service Planner for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Matching existing services against the agreed national policy (A Vision for Change 2006), we were able to identify the gaps in service provision and work towards the delivery of same on an agreed prioritised basis. I retired from the Health Services in 2010.

I have just resigned as a Director/Secretary to the Board of Nova trading as Connect Telephone counselling. In a voluntary capacity I have served on that Board since 2012.
